Desired Outcomes

 At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:


  1. Select from various management options for atypical diseases, such as combined hamartoma of the retina and RPE
  2. Recognize various ways OCT and Fluorescein Angiography are useful to detect uncommon diseases, in order to better manage patients with subtle retinal pathology; recognize new technologies in OCT and what to expect in very near future
  3. Differentiate between exudative and non-exudative macular degeneration and a number of different entities included within its differential diagnosis; understand utilization of imaging studies as well as the complexity of decision-making that leads to observation vs treatment vs treatment trial
  4. Recognize the importance of new genetic testing and utilize appropriately 
  5. Cite the necessity of Fluorescein Angiography for evaluating, localizing and categorization of lesion in Retinal, Macular and Choroidal pathologies
  6. Utilize the multi-modal imaging techniques to diagnose and monitor various types of uveitis
  7. Have educated and informed discussions with patients about their diagnosis, current treatment options, and future medical interventions
